Author Talk & Storytelling Session with Salamina Mosese & Catherine Jarvis
Presented as part of RedFest BookFest
Join two dynamic South African storytellers as they explore the power of narrative across generations and genres.
Salamina Mosese is an award-winning actress, producer, and entrepreneur whose career spans more than two decades. Known for her iconic roles in Soul Buddyz, Sewende Laan, and Abo Mzala, she is also the co-founder of Sorele Media and author of two popular children’s books: Disaster at Goaa’s Spaza and Cook-off at Goaa’s Spaza. Her work champions authentic African stories and the empowerment of women in film, TV, and publishing.
Catherine Jarvis, a former high school English teacher, brings a deep love of language to her work in young adult fiction. Her debut novel, The Swim Team, won the Sanlam Prize for Youth Literature, and her short stories have been published in Feast, Famine and Potluck and the 2015 Jalada anthology.
Together, Salamina and Catherine offer a rich, intergenerational conversation on writing for youth, creating culturally rooted narratives, and building connection through the power of story.
This session is ideal for teachers, parents, aspiring writers, and young readers alike.
